The AXLR8 project was established on the initiative of United Kingdom branch of Humane Society International (HSI-UK), the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB), and the Centre for Advanced R&D on Alternative Methods at the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (CARDAM-VITO). The day-to-day management and administration of AXLR8 is overseen by a project Secretariat, with advisory support from a Scientific Panel comprised of representatives of EU-funded 3Rs research projects, together with independent experts from the EU corporate, governmental and academic sectors, and international scientists.
